Wyre Forest Model Railway Club

Welcome to the official website of the Wyre Forest Model

Railway Club based in Kidderminster, Worcestershire.

THE CLUB

The club meets every Tuesday evening from 7.00 p.m. You are welcome to come along and find out more about the Club’s facilities and layouts. The club usually holds an annual exhibition in Stourport around September and an Open Day in the Club rooms around May. Persons with an interest in railways are invited to visit either event. Members will be on hand at both events to show you the club layouts in operation and to answer any questions you may have about the hobby. The club has a number of layouts in different gauges either operational or at various stages of construction. Members bring their own stock in on running nights or to use the test track for new purchases as no stock is held in the club.

CLUB OPEN DAY - SUNDAY 26th OCTOBER 2025

The club premises at the bottom of Comberton Hill will be open to the public between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on this date. Various club layouts will be on display either in operation or under construction including one which is being built with the help of our junior members. Club members will be available to answer any question you may have regarding the club or railway modelling in general. Our test tracks in 'OO' gauge and 'N' gauge will be operational for visitors to run their own trains using either analogue or digital control. There will also be a second hand stall in aid of club funds and tea and biscuits will be available throughout the day. Admission is free but a donation would be appreciated.

50th ANNIVERSARY YEAR

In 1975 the club was formed following a meeting of around 20 prospective members at the Youth Centre in

Bromsgrove Street, Kidderminster. 2025/26 is therefore our 50th Anniversary year and a number of events

are planned for the next 12 months.

The members had around 4 hours in Stratford to explore the riverside and canal views, the street market or just visit the local shops and pubs. For those not interested in steam locomotives the Castle class loco was assisted at the rear by diesel 37240 in Transrail triple grey livery.

The Anniversary year started on Tuesday the 22nd April, the exact date of

the first meeting, when a specially decorated cake was displayed in the main

club room. The cake was ceremonially cut by the present 3 club officials, one

of whom is the only person from the first meeting who is still a member. Tea

and cake was then enjoyed by the members who were present.

As part of these celebrations a number of members and their partners enjoyed a very pleasant day out to Stratford Upon Avon on Sunday 27th July. The steam hauled trip run by Vintage Trains started at Worcester and picked up at Droitwich and Stourbridge Junction before passing through Birmingham. It was reported that  the locomotive  reached 75 mph south of the city. At Hatton the train reversed for the final few miles to Stratford so that the locomotive, Earl of Mount Edgcumbe could again be at the head of the train for the return journey via Henley-in-Arden.
