Wyre Forest Model Railway Club
Welcome to the official website of the Wyre Forest Model
Railway Club based in Kidderminster, Worcestershire.
NEWS - CLUB RE-OPENING
We are happy to announce that the club will re-open fully to members from the 22nd JUNE 2021, although
any changes to the Government Covid guidelines before that date may result in new restrictions.
As the club rooms have been closed for 15 months a certain amount of remedial work is required on the
layouts and the club has therefore been partially opened since the 8th June for this work to be carried out.
Running of trains on the layouts, except the test tracks, will therefore not commence until the 22nd June.
Attending members will be required to wear a mask and wherever possible to observe social distancing.
The number of members allowed in the smaller rooms will be restricted although we do not foresee the
need at this time to limit the numbers in the main club room.
The Annual General Meeting that normally takes place in June has been postponed to later in the year,
when hopefully it will be safe for all to attend.
The club meets every Tuesday evening from 7.00 p.m. You are welcome to come along and find out more
about the Club’s facilities and layouts.
The club usually holds an annual exhibition in Stourport around May and an open day in the Club rooms in
October. Persons with an interest in railways are invited to visit either event. Members will be on hand at
both events to show you the club layouts in operation and to answer any questions you may have about the
The club has a number of layouts in different gauges either operational or at various stages of construction.
An annual Open Day in the club rooms was held on Sunday 27th October 2019 from 11.00 a.m. to 4.00
A successful day where members had the chance to play trains all day and talk to visitors about modelling.
Members were on hand to show the club layouts, most in operation and others being worked on, and to
answer any questions the visitors had about the hobby.
On show was mostly ‘N’ and ‘00’ gauge, some with DCC control and sound being demonstrated.
Kidderminster Charity Exhibition January 2019
On 26th January 2019 the club held a successful exhibition in the Corn Exchange building supported by the
Mayor of Kidderminster and the Mayor of Bewdley. A total of 11 layouts in various gauges owned by the
club or its members were in operation.
A good attendance resulted in around £1,000 being donated to the Mayor’s charities which included Dogs
for the Blind, Dogs Trust and the Alzheimers Society. The club would like to thank all those members of the
public who supported the event.
